Hi, there! I am so glad you’re here.
Welcome to Lovely Things With Abby, where I share about my slow, simplified lifestyle and motherhood.
I started my YouTube channel and blog after having closed my business and embraced being home full-time with my little ones.
Even after quitting the juggling act of being an entrepreneur out of the home and a new mama, I found myself pretty exhausted. So in 2017, I decided that my year’s big goal and theme was REST. That theme carried over to the next year and the next.
It was then I realized that a restful year (or three!) wasn’t what I needed, but rather, a restful life. So when I heard the term “slow living” I thought, “Yes! This is what I’m talking about. “
I wanted a slow, nourishing lifestyle that feels less like running a race and more like taking a scenic hike.
Hi, I’m Abby!
I’ve always been a romantic soul who enjoys taking the scenic trek off-the-beaten-path.
As a child, you might’ve found me climbing trees in a dress.
As a teen, you might’ve found me writing poetry, practicing calligraphy, knitting a scarf, sewing an outfit, experiencing new places or sitting on my rooftop pondering the future.
As a single adult, you would’ve found me in the pacific islands teaching children how to read and that God loves them.
As a newlywed, you would’ve found me creating a home with my hunny and launching my own business as an etiquette coach – teaching children and adults the value of respect.
And now, as a mama to a preschooler, toddler, and infant, you find me here – embracing this season of loving the littles. I still enjoy a good lost art, travel, and new adventures, now with a baby strapped on and a little hand in each of mine.
A NEW CHAPTER + BREAKING THE SILENCE
Selling Our City Home, RVing Cross-Country, and a BIG Surprise
While I didn’t plan to do this, I virtually left social media during the year 2020. Today I’m breaking the silence and letting you in on what happened.
My husband and I realized we’re homebodies who love to travel, so we sold our city house, bought and renovated a used camper, and traveled cross-country – from North Carolina to the Oregon Coast, then back east again.
It was an epic adventure and one of the greatest experiences of our lives! Not only did we make wonderful memories together as a family, but we brought back the sweetest, little memento – baby Benjamin Owen. Our 3rd child and a COMPLETE surprise!
While I felt like God had been leading me into a place of rest years prior, my web-silence in 2020 allowed me to experience rest at a new level. I’ve been able to live in the moment, enjoy my family more, and embrace this season of motherhood – where diapers need changing, boo-boos kissing, and stories reading.
If you’re tired of feeling frazzled – like you’re always behind, like you’re constantly drained, and continuously striving but never getting ahead – then you are in the right place!
Slow living is about rest and nourishment that results in natural production as the overflow. It’s about healthy habits that feed body and soul, simplified solutions that work to free up time and energy, and a mindset that brings you back to the moments and people that matter most in the world.
